  • Field job –– requires a lot of travel (by bike/car, sometimes long distances).

Career Growth Path of an MR

Medical Representative -> Area Business Manager -> Regional Manager -> Zonal Manager -> National Sales Manager -> Marketing Head or Business Head.

  1. Medical Representative –  Is for managing the sales in a single Head Quarter.
  2. Area Business Manager – Is for managing the sales in 5 to 6 MRs.
  3. Regional Manager – Is for managing the sales in 5 to 6 ABMs.
  4. Zonal Manager –  Is for managing the sales in 2 to 3 RMs.
  5. National Sales Manager – Is for managing the sales in 10 to 12 ZMs.
  6. Marketing Head or Business Head – Is for managing the sales in whole Divisions.

Salary of a Medical Representative in India (2025 Approx)

  • Fresher MR -> 15,000 – 25,000 per month.
  • Experienced MR (3–5 yrs) -> 30,000 – 50,000 per month.
  • Area Manager (ASM) -> 50,000 – 80,000 per month.
  • Regional/Zonal Manager -> 1 – 2.5 Lakh per month.
